The basics
What Is a Balloon Wall?
A balloon wall is a solid surface of balloons, usually 6 to 10 feet wide, that works as a backdrop.
Where a balloon arch frames a space and a balloon garland traces a line, a balloon wall fills the whole surface. It's built on a freestanding frame or grid, so it stands on its own in front of any wall and makes a photo backdrop, a stage background, a dessert-table wall or a branded step-and-repeat for an event.
Balloon walls are the most dramatic piece of balloon decor per square foot. They suit birthdays, weddings, graduation parties, gender reveals, holiday parties and corporate events, and they look good in every photo because there's no gap for the room to show through.
Wall styles
Types of Balloon Walls We Build
Five ways to build a balloon wall, each with a different look and price.
Organic balloon walls
An organic balloon wall layers mixed balloon sizes over the whole surface for a cloud-like, textured look. It's the fullest and most luxurious style and the one most often booked for weddings, showers and milestone birthdays. It uses the most balloons, so it's the top of the price range.
Grid and link balloon walls
A grid wall (often called a quick link balloon wall or a balloon wall link) is built from linking balloons connected into a net, so the balloons sit in neat rows. You can spell out a number, a heart, a checkerboard or a simple pattern in the grid. It's crisp, graphic and great for brand colors and team colors.
Framed balloon walls
A framed balloon wall fills a rectangular, arched or circular frame with balloons. The frame shape does a lot of the design work: a chiara-style arched frame looks elegant, a square frame looks modern, and a ring frame looks playful.
Foil and mylar balloon walls
A foil balloon wall is made of mylar balloons, often hearts, stars or squares in metallic colors. It catches light, reads well on camera and is latex-free, which matters for guests with latex allergies and venues that ban latex.
Floating and lighted balloon walls
A floating balloon wall uses helium balloons on ribbons anchored in rows, so the wall moves a little in the air. It's striking but short-lived, so it's best for a few hours. Balloon walls with lights add LED strings or LED balloons for evening parties and New Year's Eve.

Sizing
Balloon Wall Sizes and How Many Balloons They Take
Pick the size by the photo you want. An 8×8 ft wall fits a group of six to eight people comfortably.
| Wall size | Fits | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 6×6 ft | Couples, small groups, a dessert table backdrop | Good for apartments and restaurant rooms |
| 8×8 ft | Group photos, a cake table plus guests | The most popular size |
| 8×10 ft | Stages, head tables, step-and-repeat | Needs about 9 ft of ceiling height |
| Custom widths | Long walls, stages, store windows | Built in sections and joined on-site |
Grid walls of 11-inch link balloons use roughly 1.2–1.5 balloons per square foot; organic walls use two to four times that. Check your ceiling height and leave 2–3 ft in front of the wall for photos.

A wall behind the cake table keeps the photos clean and hides whatever is behind it.
Stage and head-table background
For speeches, DJs, award ceremonies and wedding head tables.
Branded step-and-repeat
A grid wall in brand colors, with a logo panel, for launches, galas and trade show booths.
Room divider
Hide a kitchen, a bar setup or a storage corner in a rented hall.
Gender reveal moment
A neutral wall with a hidden pop panel, or a wall that's blue or pink on the reveal side.

Installation
How We Install a Balloon Wall Without Damaging Your Walls
Short answer: we don't attach anything to your walls.
Every balloon wall we build stands on its own frame with a weighted base. That matters at home, where tape and glue dots pull paint, and at Houston venues, where most hotel ballrooms and event halls ban tape, nails and adhesives on walls. A freestanding wall can also be moved a few feet on the day if the room layout changes.
- 1
Measure
We confirm the wall size, ceiling height, outlets for lights and the path from the door to the spot.
- 2
Build
Large walls are built in panels and joined on-site, then fluffed so the seams disappear.
- 3
Finish
Signs, vinyl, foil accents and lights go on last, then we check it from where the photos will be taken.
What's the best way to hang balloons on a wall? On a frame in front of the wall, not on the wall itself. If you do hang balloons directly, use removable hooks and fishing line rather than tape, and test the adhesive somewhere hidden first.
Longevity
How Long Do Balloon Walls Last?
Air-filled balloon walls last several days indoors. Floating helium walls last hours.
An air-filled organic or grid wall in an air-conditioned room holds its shape for several days and often a week. Foil walls last even longer. Floating helium walls start to droop within hours. Outdoors in a Houston summer, keep the wall in shade and build it the same day; sun and heat oxidize and pop latex quickly.

How much does a balloon wall cost?
Our foil balloon walls start at $95 for an 8×5 ft wall, grid walls at $350 and organic balloon walls at $500 for an 8×8 ft wall. Size, style and add-ons set the final price.

Air-filled balloon walls last several days indoors, often a week. Foil walls last longer. Helium floating walls last a few hours, and outdoor walls in Houston summer sun last only hours.
What size balloon wall do I need?
An 8×8 ft wall is the most popular and fits a group photo or a cake table. A 6×6 ft wall suits small rooms and couples; 8×10 ft and custom widths suit stages and head tables.
Will a balloon wall damage my walls?
No. Our balloon walls stand on weighted, freestanding frames in front of your wall, so no tape, nails or glue touch the paint.
What is it called when balloons are linked into a wall?
A grid wall or link wall. It's built from linking balloons connected into a net, which lets you make rows, patterns, numbers and logos.
Can a balloon wall be latex-free?
Yes. Foil (mylar) balloon walls are latex-free and are the right choice for guests with latex allergies and venues that don't allow latex.
Can you put a name or logo on a balloon wall?
