The basics
What Is a Custom Balloon Installation?
If it hangs from the ceiling, spans a room, takes a shape or carries a brand, it's an installation.
A custom balloon installation is balloon decor designed for one space and built on-site, usually larger or more structural than an arch, garland or column. Think a balloon ceiling over a dance floor, a cloud of balloons over a sweetheart table, a 30 ft entrance arch for a store opening, a giant number mosaic, a balloon tunnel or a sculpture of a logo. Installations are where balloon decor becomes balloon art.
Because each one is built for a specific room, installations start with a site measure and a design, not a price list. They're the right call when the room is big, the event is high-profile, or you want something guests haven't seen before. For standard pieces, see balloon arches, garlands, walls, columns and backdrops.
What we install
Types of Custom Balloon Installations
These are the installations Houston venues, brands and hosts ask for most.
Balloon ceilings
A balloon ceiling fills the space overhead: helium balloons floating against the ceiling with ribbons hanging down, air-filled balloons hung upside down at different heights, or garlands swagged across the room. A ceiling with balloons transforms a plain hall or gym into an event space and is a favorite for prom, quinceañeras, weddings and holiday parties.
Hanging balloons, canopies and chandeliers
Hanging balloon garlands over a table, a balloon canopy over a dance floor or a tent, and balloons wrapped around an existing chandelier (or a balloon chandelier built on a hoop) bring decor to eye level and above without taking up floor space.
Balloon clouds
A balloon cloud is a soft, floating mass of white and clear balloons, often with a few pastel or metallic accents, hung over a table or used as a backdrop. Cloud nine themes, baby showers and dreamy wedding setups use them most.
Balloon drops
A balloon drop releases hundreds of balloons from a net or bag overhead at a set moment: the New Year's Eve countdown, a gender reveal, a grand entrance, the end of a graduation or a product launch. Drops are rigged before the event and released by a pull cord or a team member at the right second.
Balloon sculptures and balloon art
Large balloon sculptures take a recognizable shape: a giant number, an airplane, a pineapple, a cake, a mascot, a logo. Balloon art installations for galleries, schools and brand events can be built at life size or bigger.
Balloon trees, palm trees and topiaries
Balloon palm trees for luaus and pool parties, balloon topiaries for formal events, and balloon Christmas trees for holiday lobbies and office parties are freestanding pieces that work like balloon columns with a shape on top.
Balloon tunnels
A balloon tunnel is a series of arches set close together that guests walk through. It's a showstopper for a wedding entrance, a school walkway, a 5K finish line or a store opening.
Balloon mosaics, number towers and marquee letters
A balloon mosaic fills a number, letter or shape frame with small balloons, like a pixel picture made of balloons. Mosaic numbers and letters spell an age, an initial or a class year; marquee letters with balloons wrapped around them add light. They're one of our most-requested pieces for birthdays and graduations.
Balloon wreaths and giant balloons
Balloon wreaths frame a front door or a sign. Giant balloons (36-inch and up, sometimes filled with confetti) make big moments for gender reveals, proposals and photo shoots.

Process
How a Custom Installation Comes Together
Bigger builds need a bit more planning. Here's how it works.
- 1
Brief
Tell us the event, date, venue and what you have in mind. Photos, mood boards and brand guidelines help.
- 2
Site details
We confirm room dimensions, ceiling height, rigging points, power, load-in times and venue rules, by visit or by photos and measurements.
- 3
Design and quote
You get a design plan and a written quote. Big installs are quoted by scope, not by the foot.
- 4
Build day
We load in during your venue window, build on-site and walk the space with you before guests arrive.
- 5
Strike
We take everything down at the end of the event or the next morning, depending on the venue.
Venue rules to ask about early: many Houston hotels and event venues set load-in and strike windows, require vendors to carry liability insurance (and send a certificate of insurance), restrict helium tanks, ban tape on walls, and may not allow anything to be hung from the ceiling without approval. We check these before quoting so build day has no surprises.
Pricing
How Much Do Balloon Installations Cost in Houston?
Custom installations start at $400 and scale with size and complexity.
| Installation | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 3 ft | $200 |
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 5 ft | $350 |
| Custom balloon installation | $400 |
| Marquee letter or number rental | $45 each |
| Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures | Custom quote |
Large installs are quoted after a site measure. Venue load-in requirements and after-hours strike can add to the total.
What drives an installation's price: square footage or length covered, balloon count and size, rigging and lift requirements (ceiling height matters), helium, labor hours, overnight or after-hours load-in, venue insurance requirements, and same-night strike. Ask for a quote with your venue and ceiling height, and we'll scope it properly.

Timing
How Far Ahead to Book a Balloon Installation
Give large installations three to six weeks.
Small installs like a mosaic number or a balloon drop for a home party can often be booked one to two weeks out. Ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and anything at a hotel or event venue need three to six weeks for design, venue approvals and ordering custom balloons. December holiday weekends, New Year's Eve, prom season (spring) and graduation season (May and June) book up first.

What is a balloon ceiling?
A balloon ceiling fills the space overhead with balloons: helium balloons floating against the ceiling with hanging ribbons, air-filled balloons hung at different heights, or garlands swagged across the room.

How many balloons are needed for a balloon drop?
For a home or small room, 100–250 balloons. For a dance floor or ballroom, 500–1,500 or more. The drop area and ceiling height set the count.
What is a balloon mosaic?
A balloon mosaic is a number, letter or shape frame filled with small balloons in a pattern, like a pixel picture. Mosaic numbers and letters are popular for birthdays, graduations and anniversaries.
How long do ceiling balloons last?

How far in advance should I book a balloon installation?
Three to six weeks for ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and venue installs. One to two weeks for smaller pieces like a mosaic number or a home balloon drop.
Do venues allow balloon installations?
Most do, with rules. Venues commonly require vendor liability insurance, set load-in and strike times, and may restrict helium, tape and hanging from the ceiling. We confirm the rules before quoting.
What is balloon art?
Balloon art covers sculptures and large designed pieces made from balloons, from giant numbers and logos to characters and installations. It's different from twisted balloon animals made at parties.
